WINTER

You are the perfect wave
Strong yet yielding
Supple and resilient
Opening into emptiness
And forever . . .

You are give and resistance
An impenetrable wall of cloud
Solid yet flowing river
Ever moving frozen white rapids
Mountain of ceaseless motion
Stillness of silent song

You are root and cranny
Depth and unreachable height
You are the speech of deafness
The blindness of sight
Sound of enduring solitude
To be heard only in the company of angels
Daybreak at the dawn of night
You are the perfect wave!
