The Numbness Has Returned

The Numbness has returned.
Cotton of fog in my head.

Keeping out the clarity
Swirling slurp of sticky nothingness

Yelling at me, taunting me
You can't see
You can't hear
You can't do.

And so I listen
And do not see though the vision beckons me
Do not hear though the sounds entice me
Do not act though the action begs me to become it

The urge to call the old ones screams
Though the most direct request of the old ones
Is to look when I see
Listen when I hear
Act when the action is called for

My life,
Others' lives depend on it.
It's a matter of life or life without living.
The choice is mine.
